I quess the question at hand is... is there a Swedish Lapphund network here
in the US?? The answer is yes! We are a small (very small (-; ) group of folks who are committed
to learning about and appreciating this very special breed. Each of us has a different story to tell about how
we developed our interests.
Where are the lapphunds here in the US? Well, there is Loddi here in Costa Mesa, CA - and
Badji in Fairfax, Vermont. Badji is the beautiful boy upper left on this page. The is also Miles in Indiana - and Muffy living in our neighbor to the north, Canada - and Ebony in Flat Rock, South Carolina... at least these are the lappies I
know of. Miles and Muffy were adopted by their owners from local shelters and later identified as possible Swedish Lappies through
contacts with breeders in Sweden. Loddi and Badji are both recent imports - Loddi from Sweden and Badji from Slovenia
(a Swedish Lapphund from Slovenia living in Vermont... now there's a story!). I was alerted to Ebony by a Swedish Lapphund
lover here in the states. She saw a picture of Ebony in a breed-a-day calendar. Ebbie is listed as living in Flat
Rock, South Carolina - I have not yet been able to locate the owners.... anyone know Ebony and her owners...? Please let
them know I would love to make contact with them!
My owner started the Swedish Lapphund Network USA yahoo discussion
group on June 16, 2001 in an effort to find other folks interested in my breed. The majority of the members
are from outside the country to date... but I believe our in country numbers will continue to grow ever so slowly. To
